The James M. Sullivan Memorial House

Building a House, Making a Home

Residential opportunities for persons with developmental differences are few and far between. Individuals want, and deserve, homes that are safe and comfortable, where they can lead lives of independence and dignity, included fully as members of our community.

PCR has worked to address this critical need for housing by building a house that is home to women who have developmental differences. Our partner in this project is Our Lady of Mercy Parish/Archdiocese of Washington, which made land adjacent to the parish campus available for us to build the house. PCR secured significant funding from the State of Maryland through Bond Bills enacted by the General Assembly, and from Montgomery County. We are very grateful.

Jubilee Association of Maryland, Inc., a highly qualified and experienced nonprofit housing service provider for persons with developmental differences, is providing services to the residents to support their independent, community-based living.

The house honors the memory of Jim Sullivan, who co-founded PCR in 1994 and served in leadership positions for 25 years, including as President. It pays tribute to his legacy of service and commitment to individuals with developmental differences about whom he cared so deeply.
